Letting Go

Arthur F. Kales, "The Call of The Sea," 1916

Arthur F. Kales, The Call of The Sea, 1916

On retreat, letting go can be a practice. It is the slow process of opening like a lens to the radiance at the heart of our lives, here and now. We are enlightened as we learn to let the light in and let it shine out. This happens as we learn to be with life just as it is, receiving what is always being offered, always waiting to be received.

–Tracy Cochran from “Away” in the new summer issue of Parabola: “Alone & Together” which is available on newsstands and better bookstores now. Why not make Parabola a companion to your summer.

Learn to be internally alone. Don’t allow people and things to invade your being.

Waldeinsamkeit is a German word that doesn’t exist in the English language: Essentially it is the feeling of being alone in the woods.

DIY Two Tutorials for the Bina Brianca Wrap. Have you see this? It can be worn as a scarf, cardigan, poncho, blouse, shrug, stole, turtleneck, shoulder scarf, back wrap, tunic and headscarf. You can download the PDF “how-to” manual for all these styles from Bina Brianca here. Top Photo: Bina Brianca Wrap here, Bottom Photos: DIY Bina Brianca Wrap Tutorial by Organized Living Solutions here. Not pictured original tutorial for the wrap at The Craft Guild here.
*If you are even thinking of ever making this I’d download the Bina Brianca how-to PDF now because in my experience these things get pulled off the internet frequently (because people decide to charge for previously free patterns or in this case they may decide to have it just as an insert when you buy the wrap).

Thoughts on my book

So I’m reading this book that combines the principles and philosophy behind yoga, its history and an analysis steaming from the Yoga Sutras and experiences of various characters.

My main thought so far, based on the first three lines of the sutras….

Once you feel like you are more “aware” and “authentic” how do you stop yourself from being annoyed with people that aren’t?

"Now, the teachings of yoga.
Yoga is to still the patterning of consciousness.
Then, pure awareness can abide in its very nature."
